“Recently, I won a highly competitive poetry contest. I could not have achieved this without Dr. Wright’s guidance; he visited my class in February of this year (2023). He was there for a Q&A and general discussion on his most recent book which we had read for class. At request he read several poems, answered questions, and shared fitting anecdotes from his life. Perhaps it’s the calming nature of his accent that brought out a certain friendliness or the eagerness he had interacting with a classroom full of young adults that most folks don’t often have, but I was drawn to him. A few days after he visited class I sent him an email expressing my enjoyment in his writing and asking for advice which he willingly gave. Dr. Wright encouraged me to pursue my writing and has promised to be a mentor through my journey, I could ask for none better. I have earned in that one day a mentor, a teacher that has aided my writing, and most favorably a friend for which I am most grateful for. If I ever have the privilege of publishing a book I look forward to thanking him in the first page.”

“William Wright is magic. He opened the universe of poetry to me.
I never considered writing a eulogy for my mother when she died— how could I reduce the woman who gave me life to words on a 2D page? Dr. Wright showed me how it could be done through poetry.
After working with William for about 18 months, I not only found the words for a eulogy but now have a published book of poems dedicated to my mother. I felt a true sense of support and mentorship as my poems morphed from stream-of-consciousness fragments to a tangible, published book titled Death Song in Green.
I initially contacted Dr. Wright for editing services. I did not realize how much generosity, education, empathy, and empowerment I’d receive. His creativity, compassion, encouragement, and professionalism have elevated not only my creative work but has empowered me as a person.
My experience working with Dr. Wright was exemplary and far exceeded my expectations. During the entire process, I persistently felt awe: this was the most magical and cost-effective investment I could have made for myself as an aspiring poet.
Each week, for a year and some months, I worked with William on 3-5 poems; my growth kept snowballing as he helped me hone the craft of poetry through commentary on the poems.
His critiques were multidimensional. He provided line edits for each poem, centering on perspective, style, line breaks, word choice, and tension as well as feedback that enriched themes: this added nuance, dimension, and character to the poems, and Dr. Wright helped usher them into their highest potential.
His insightful feedback inspired me to explore further intriguing possibilities of where my words could transport me and how to push my creative edge simultaneously, letting me know what did not work in a direct yet empathetic manner. He is very, very kind.
Dr. Wright’s bio does not mention his technical mastery, his deep intuition, and his genius for grasping the crux, the soul of a work. I came to him with difficult topics – death and grief – and was taken aback, after some context I shared with him, that he understood my aspirations at the deepest level, and he showed me the mechanics of how to express what felt inexpressible, all the while catering to my schedule.
Dr. Wright taught me that poetry can serve as a deep dive into the artful expression of not only language, but of soul and the cosmos, as well as aspects of our grounded, sometimes mysterious human experiences. He revealed to me how to design, and mold poems into worthy containers through which the wild, primal, and explosive faces of grief like rage and depression could find voice in imagery, metaphor, and meter.
His specific advice, vision, and time accompanied all aspects of editing and assembling my book and I only have an endless appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Wright. I found the words I needed to honor my mother’s life, and I would not have found them without Dr. Wright’s brilliance, generosity of spirit, steady heart, mentorship, empathy, and encouragement.
I am deeply grateful to have connected with Dr. Wright. I foresee a very long professional relationship with him, as I delve more into poetry and creative writing.
If you are reading this, I am glad that you have found William, and if you want your words to dance on the page, well – you know what to do next.”

“Dr. William Wright provided irreplaceable personal attention and expertise to my first book manuscript, and his assistance guided the manuscript to publication with a highly respected press. Dr. Wright edited, proofread, and designed the interior layout of my final project, making valued suggestions and improvements at every level. His services were thoughtful, encouraging, and timely, and I would recommend him to any writer with any sort of project in need of editorial guidance. My book went on the win a major regional award, and to enhance my future career prospects tremendously, and none of that would have happened without the professional association of Dr. Wright.”

“I had the pleasure of finding Dr. William Wright through a referral. Dr. Wright has been a wonderful editor. I worked on my last graduate professional paper for my Master's degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner with Dr. Wright. He gave me continual feedback while we worked together to complete my professional paper. I can confidently recommend him because of his knowledge and expertise in grammar, syntax, and APA formatting. He was able to help me convey my sentences and structure that helped and ultimately to complete my project deadline.
I had initially contacted him after my professor explained to me that I had a lot of work to do to fix my paper. It was very close to the deadline. I was in dire need of professional help! I only had 3-4 weeks to reedit my paper to submit it for completion. Dr. Wright’s confidence and continual feedback motivated me as we worked on the paper together. He was very positive, personable, and encouraging. Dr. Wright was always available when I contacted him through email. I would receive his emails within 1 hour of sending him a message. He identified my weakness in my paper and was able to clarify my work in a fashion that made my paper flow with perfection. His professional skills and knowledge had perfected my paper and helped me graduate school. I could not have found anyone more capable of editing my project. Dr. Wright is truly a talented editor.”

“I required an extremely fast editorial job for an academic document and Blue Leaf Writing & Editing had it back to me within fifteen minutes after sending it to them. The document was substantively improved, exceeding my expectations. This is an amazing company.”
— DANIEL W. MORRIS, PH.D. AMAZON AND FACEBOOK INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER
“William Wright at Blue Leaf Writing & Editing continues to prove himself one of the most effective and efficient editors in the country, and his services have been a significant help to me during the past few years. William's talents as published poet, fiction writer, literary critic, anthologist, and professional editor of essays, theses, and dissertations give him a unique perspective on all the stages of the creative and editorial process.
On a personal note, in our collaborative translations of German literature, William's poetic sensibility and input helps us find language that clarifies and distills the spirit of the original work. But this particular sensibility transcends poetry, as he has helped edit and offered perspectives on my grant proposals, article abstracts, and query letters. When he helps edit my work, I can submit these documents with confidence, knowing that they are free of mistakes and will connect successfully with their target audiences.”
— M.P. SHEEHAN, PH.D. PROFESSOR AND INTERIM CHAIR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, TENNESSEE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY
“Dr. Wright bolstered my confidence as a poet while also constructively criticizing my poems—a tricky balance to strike. He gave insightful feedback on both line-level and big-picture concerns. He’s also good humored and unwaveringly supportive, which makes the sometimes torturous business of poetry a lot more fun.”
— LUCY W.
“I highly recommend William Wright at Blue Leaf for any professional editing services. He helped me with an essay and his work was amazing!
William has extremely fast turnaround time, excellent price and he really took the time to understand my project and he answered my e-mails promptly. I would most definitely use his services again!”
— TANIA V.
“I have used William Wright's knowledge for my poetry with great results and have just had my first poem accepted to a major journal (Birmingham Poetry Review) for publication, thanks primarily to William's input. He possesses facility with the micro and macro aspects of poetry and writing in general and gives timely and detailed comments line by line. Whether it involves a deletion of a comma, a reworking of an entire stanza or paragraph, or the rethinking of the center of the poem or essay, Wright delivers not only editing but thoughtful comments and feedback that lead the writer to his or her own answers. He respects that the writings’ ownership is your own so that the edits are helpful, valuable in tightening and shaping the writing, without ever feeling heavy-handed or that the writing has moved in a different direction.
I would recommend his services with highest confidence based on the knowledge this editor imparts, as well as the concrete results I have witnessed.”
— JO BRACHMAN
“William Wright at Blue Leaf brought new life to my poems with his attention to detail and very astute observations regarding syntax and word choices. I can categorically state that his revisions played an integral part in me capturing my first book deal. He was extremely supportive of me and my work and I would recommend him as an editor without reservation.”
— MITCHELL UNTCH, AUTHOR OF MEMORIAL WITH LIMINAL SPACE
“Every writer needs an editor and would be lucky to get Will Wright. He was extraordinarily helpful in both editing and advocating for my work, especially my novel The Vain Conversation. He was accessible and easy to communicate with, and, from structure to copyediting, his suggestions proved insightful.”
— ANTHONY GROOMS
“I highly recommend the editing services of Dr. William Wright, a friend and colleague for over twenty years. A gifted poet, writer, and researcher, Will is the author and editor of over twenty books. Thus, he’s comfortable gliding between those projects with a creative bent—e.g., novels, stories, poetry—and projects more academic in nature, such as journal articles, dissertations, and theses. When my own editing load becomes overwhelming, Will is not the first referral choice I pass along to potential clients, he’s the only choice.”
— DARYL HERRING, CO-OWNER OF ALWAYS WRITE
“The opportunity to have some of my poetry looked at by a poet whose work I have admired for decades was, at first blush, intimidating. As it turned out, there was no reason to be anxious. While simultaneously maintaining a level of approachability that was, in a word, disarming, Wright showed himself to be one of the most perceptive editors I have ever worked with. Without revealing what areas I felt were problematic, he unfailingly zeroed in on those weak spots and offered suggestions that proved themselves to be precisely what was needed to make the poems the best they could be. Insightful. Succinct. Gentle without coddling or false flattery. Honestly, this man is magic, and I’d recommend his editing services without a single reservation to any serious writer seeking an exceptional editor whose attention to detail is remarkable. Wright will help you make your poems sing!”
— FRANK PAINO
“Dr. Will Wright’s brilliance is unmatched. When I first met him at Reinhardt University’s MFA workshops, he was speaking a language of poetry not commonly heard in the contemporary. He looks at the movement of the poem, the construction of words, and the sensations that follow from the poem’s arrangement. He mentored me on my thesis manuscript, introduced me at my reading, and taught me how to submit to journals and magazines. Through his guidance, my poem “Insomnia” is published in Unbound Edition Press’s anthology The Experiment Will Not Be Bound. Such an esteemed success could not have been accomplished without Will’s expertise. He will guide your writing by taking a deep dive into who you are as a poet and person, and he will guide you to poets who are similar and broaden your pallet as a reader. Will is certainly one of the most brilliant minds of today’s poetry. ”
— MATT BEARDEN
“As the Narrative Lead of an ambitious science-fiction indie video game, I needed a writer who could combine enthusiasm for the game's subject material with deep imagination. Naturally, I headhunted Will for the task. We knew his capacity as a great writer when we signed him on board, and he still blew us away. Besides providing the game with deep, nuanced lore and compelling dramatic scripts, Will stepped easily into a leadership role as a liaison to guide art and audio.
Will does more than ‘a job well done.’ He ensures the highest quality work possible. Anyone who gets this man on their team is getting way more than they're bargaining for.”
— JAMES HOWELL, SOFTWARE & GAME DEVELOPER
“When searching for an editor, I was mostly looking for a concierge and highly personal experience. I found that with William Wright. Having worked with William now for the past three years, I can say confidently that all the reviews and praise are accurate and deserving. It’s true, his talent for editing and writing is among the best in the business. However, talent is only part of the equation. Talent means nothing without dedicated work ethic and integrity. Where other people take shortcuts, William does not. His work is performed to exceptional standards. Deadlines are meaningful. Customer happiness is valued above all. Whatever amount of money I have invested in William over the years, he has consistently delivered at least ten times value on return. ”
